Why Study Asian and Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures in Minnesota?

Our Asian and Middle Eastern language programs are established and vibrant. They have developed a strong reputation for delivering high-level instruction that empowers students to become effective, confident users of the language of instruction.

Our summer programs take place at the University of Minnesota campus in the heart of the vibrant Twin Cities. The metropolitan area of Minneapolis-St. Paul is home to a large number of immigrant communities. You will find native speakers of your Asian/Arabic language within and beyond the university community, and a rich variety of activities and events to enjoy on campus and in the Twin Cities.

Registration

Registration opens on February 22, 2024 for current University of Minnesota students, and on February 29, 2024 for non-UMN students. UMN students register for summer in the same manner they register for any other semester.

Non-UMN students may register as a "non-degree seeking student" for summer courses as long as they meet the pre-requisites and there are seats available. Non-degree-seeking students are not typically eligible for financial aid. To learn more about registering as a non-degree-seeking student, please refer to the dedicated One Stop page.

Information about summer term tuition and fees is available here.
